Position Overview

Budtenders at Flipside play a key role in delivering a friendly, personalized experience that guides customers to the best cannabis products that fit their unique needs. As a budtender, you'll provide exceptional customer service, product education and guidance, transaction support, and ensure a welcoming and elevated retail experience. While doing so, budtenders must maintain compliance with all cannabis retail regulations and key store operational procedures to keep the sales floor and operational areas clean and orderly. 

This isn't just a cashier position; it’s an engaging sales role where your knowledge of terpenes, cannabinoids, and strain effects makes a difference. A well-educated staff is essential to serving customers and providing the best experience. To support this, Flipside offers budtenders continued ways to expand knowledge through in-person and external educational training.

An ideal candidate has strong retail sales and customer service experience, attention to detail, reliability, passion for music and cannabis, and commitment to responsible use. Basic cannabis knowledge is preferred, but a curiosity and willingness to learn is most essential.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers, check IDs, and uphold welcoming energy for all visitors.

  • Provide quality customer service that encourages customer loyalty.

  • Provide proactive engagement and assist customers in selecting products tailored to their needs providing appropriate education on product types, effects, methods of consumption, and safe usage practices.

  • Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system efficiently for transactions, including loyalty program management, cash handling and daily reconciliation.

  • Maintain retail floor organization, cleanliness, and professional, elevated environment throughout shift.

  • Assist in inventory management, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize store presentation.

  • Stay current on products, accessories, and industry trends.

  • Participate in all product training opportunities offered by the leadership team.

  • Participate in sales incentives and promotions to meet or exceed retail sales goals.

  • Assist with day-to-day tasks, including opening/closing procedures and administrative duties when needed.

  • Follow all store operating procedures and security protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations regarding cannabis sales and inventory control.

  • Contribute to a positive, consistent, and team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain products clearly to and connect with a diverse range of customers.

  • Passion for cannabis, willingness to learn, and ability to educate others. Working knowledge of cannabis, product types, consumptions methods, etc. preferred.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a team dynamic.

  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills.

  • Basic cash handling and math skills for balancing registers and managing inventory counts.

  • Strong reliability and adherence in compliance-driven environment.

  • Ability to stand, move around, and remain engaged for extended periods.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Accountable, reliable, punctual and detail-oriented with professional presentation and attention to personal hygiene.

  • Ability to commit to consistent schedule each week and provide weekend availability.

  • Must be 21+ and pass all background requirements for cannabis retail employment.

    • Background check including fingerprinting required. Flipside will pay the fee to the BCA, applicant required to get fingerprinting done at licensed location within 7 days of offer.
